Welcome to 5A
Greetings! My name is Elizabeth Smith-Forti (Mrs. Forti) and I look forward to working with your children this 2016-2017 school year. Fifth grade is a very important year because it is their last year in elementary, and we are preparing them for their journey to middle school. Additionally, your children will be taking three mandated state exams in reading, math, and science. As you can see, this year will prove busy and full of challenges.
I try to create a safe environment for my students. I feel that if they are comfortable in my classroom, they are bound to participate, engage in, and enjoy the various learning activities I will guide them on.
I am a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso with a degree in Business Administration. I earned and received my certification to teach in 2003, and since then, I have taught 2nd through 5th grade. Working with students in various grade levels has provided me with unique insight to the developmental requirements for each particular grade. In 2009-2010, I was honored by my colleagues at Hughey Elementary when I was chosen "Teacher of the Year".
Communication is crucial between parents and teachers. If you ever have any questions, or need to meet with me, I can be contacted during my conference period between 8:15-9:00.
